A Scranton native, relocated back to NEPA after 35 years of travel, Joe Statuto holds a BFA from Penn State and has pursued art and music study for his entire life. He has shown his art in various galleries and venues throughout the area in group and one-man shows. As a musician he has performed locally and in Philadelphia with an original rock band thru the early 70’s.
Currently his visual art is stream of consciousness style of creativity, his music study is traditional Japanese shakuhachi music. Joe is currently the curator for The Gathering Place Gallery in Clarks Summit.

I work primarily with acrylic but also do works with pen and ink, ink wash, and oil pastels. My technique varies with the medium. I like strong, vibrant colors with a tendency toward the surreal. My subject matter is often city scapes reflecting my fascination with urban living but I have done numerous nature pieces reflecting my love of nature. My inspiration comes from life where ever it takes me.
