Studio Tour Location

500 Kennedy Creek Road

I work primarily in mixed media, combining drawing, painting, oil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, encaustic wax, and layered mark-making processes on paper and wood panels. My approach is intuitive and process-driven, allowing each piece to evolve through layering, erasure, texture, and repetition.

Much of my work begins through direct observation of the natural world while working from my seasonal studio at Spring Hills Farm in North Abington Township. I’m drawn to shifting light, organic forms, weather patterns, trees, water, and the subtle textures of the landscape. Rather than creating literal representations, I use these elements as a starting point for emotional and atmospheric exploration.

Layering is central to my process. I often build surfaces slowly over time, allowing previous marks, scratches, and textures to remain partially visible beneath newer layers. The encaustic wax creates depth and translucency, while charcoal and pastel allow for expressive line work and movement. I’m interested in balancing control with spontaneity and letting the materials themselves guide part of the process.

My work explores cycles of growth, erosion, memory, and transformation, reflecting both the rhythms of nature and the complexity of human experience.
